Collioure
Collioure is about 2 hours drive away but it is so worth the drive!! Its a beautiful and charming coastal town, with various boutiques and very nice restaurants. There is a medieval castle to visit, and a lovely pebble beach with crystal clear water perfect for cooling off after a day out and about!

Olargues
Just over an hour’s drive from La Roueyre, Olargues is perched above the Jaur River and nestled at the edge of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Park. This stunning artist's village has some lovely walks in the forest and a fantastic restaurant (Fleurs D'Olargues) .

Lagrasse
Nestling at the heart of the Corbières, the picturesque village of Lagrasse, classed amongst the most beautiful in France, makes a lovely picture, with its old humpback bridge over the Orbieu, its medieval houses, the remains of ancient ramparts and its abbey overlooked by an imposing bell tower. Before visiting the Abbey of St Mary of Orbieu, take a stroll in the medieval town, a place full of charm, where you can admire an old 14th-century covered market with stone pillars, art and craft shops, and a Gothic church listed as a Historic Monument.

Bages & Peyriac-de-mer
Bages and Peyriac-de-Mer are two beautiful, peaceful villages located just south of Narbonne, perfect for a scenic day trip from La Roueyre (about 40–45 minutes by car).
Bages is known for its amazing views on the étang where you can watch flamingos and herons. There are also many beautiful walking trails. We recommend eating at ‘les Jardins de Bages’, it’s as charming and authentic as you can get!
Peyriac-de-mer is 5 minutes away from Bages and is famous for its wooden boardwalks over ancient salt pans. -
Carcasonne
The Cité de Carcassonne, a medieval fortress settlement with a history that exceeds two and a half thousand years. It’s around 1 hour west of La Roueyre. Picturesque fortifications (over 3 km of walls with 52 towers, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves was partly shot here). It is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Features shops restaurants, historic re-enactments, and lots of photo opportunities

Minerve
15 minutes from la Roueyre lies the magnificent historic Cathar village of Minerve – perched on a column of rock in the gorges of the river Cesse. It has the most fantastic views several great restaurants a museum and several walks along the bottom of the gorge

Le Canal du midi
The Canal du Midi runs through a series of charming villages, including Le Somail and Capestang. We highly recommend hiring a bike or a boat to explore this picturesque side of southern France

Sigean Safari park
This is wonderful animal reserve with opportunities to drive through enclosures with black bears, lions, giraffes, ostriches and zebras. You can also tour enclosures on foot to see elephants, alligators and snakes etc. A great day out for the family.

l'oulibo
L'Oulibo Olive Co-operative is at Cabezac, just 12km down the road near Bize). Here you can taste all the different types of olives and olive oils which they produce, the buttery flavoured "lucques" being one of the favourites. There is also a large gift shop where you can buy olives, olive oil and a huge range of products, household goods and souvenirs from the region. Tours can be arranged.

Chèvrerie de Combebelle
The Ferme de Combebelle is a short drive from La Roueyre. Visiting times: 1 March to 30 October: the goat farm is open daily from 1030 to 1200 and from 1600 to 1900 except Monday afternoon. It is open on Sundays and holidays at the same times. To be sure to see the goats, you are advised to arrive shortly before 1700 for the return of the flock and to watch the milking. You can taste and buy the cheeses and a small range of local produce in the farm shop. Good for children
